    Boston Tea Party

Boston Tea Party asked for us to make our way down south to photograph a new location of one of their cafes, and also – on a separate day – a few new menu items ready for Xmas. For the Christmas items, we shot on location in their staff-room which had a table with a similar style to what’s in their cafes. As all around was office furniture and members of staff, choice of angles was limited. I enjoy having to find a solution to a ‘problem’, it often brings new angles, focal lengths, heights (I was up top a full sized ladder for some of these!) and ideas, which is a great way of producing photography that holds people’s attention.

Food Photography with Boston Tea Party

Last month we were back with Boston Tea Party in Plymouth to photograph their new menu. Working in their large, newly opened and beautiful Plymouth cafe, we selected a corner to work from that wouldn’t interfere with their customers and got to work, with their chef bringing new dishes up for us to photograph in situ. Making the most of our corner, we used the blue seating and warm brown table to add to each photograph. Leaving large areas for the marketing team to add text too.

Previous photography by us is now being used throughout the cafes countrywide, the results are great and we’re looking forward to working with them again soon.

Having covered a few of BTP’s other cafés previously, I was asked to head up to Birmingham to shoot food photograph for their new dishes. I also headed over to another of their cafés nearby to shoot a few location photos there too. You can see some of my work on their homepage (as of April 2015) with more populating their brochures and marketing in general.

Café Photography for Boston Tea Party in Bristol

Boston Tea Party is a cool, personal and cosy café environment with each of their cafés having a unique style and feeling that has been lovingly crafted by the owners. I documented two of their Cafés in Bristol, capturing the staff, customers and ambience of the locations in the same day. In addition to the documentary approach, some natural food photography was also on the cards.

The slideshow has some example photography from the day.

HRH Prince Charles visits Poundbury to celebrate 20th Anniversary

Having photographed for the Duchy of Cornwall previously, we were asked to document HRH Prince Charles on the 20th anniversary of Poundbury town on the outskirts of Dorchester. The town is being built according to the pioneering designs and ideals of HRH Prince Charles, creating a living space focused on pedestrians and cyclists and not cars. The development started in 1993, and throughout the build, Prince Charles has been very closely involved in most aspects of the development, hence the importance of the day.

He visited in November to see the latest developments,  as well as attend a reception holding an exhibition celebrating the 20 years of the build and those involved. Below are a few of the moments of the event.

Barista coffee training at the Town Mill Bakery, Lyme Regis

The Town Mill Bakery are always looking forward, never resting on their laurels and as part of their continued progress, Rory from Origin Coffee visited and trained everyone at their Lyme Regis bakery in the art of making great coffee. The morning started with Rory explaining the complex world of coffee, from how humidity and temperature can affect coffee right though to grind size, tamping, water temperature and then on to milk and creating the perfect microfoam for lattes. I was there to document the morning, keeping out of everyones way but capturing everything for future internal training and marketing material.

Being that I’m massively in to coffee, I picked up a few tips from Rory and the first thing I did when I got back to the studio was to grind up some sweetshop from Squaremile and brew myself an Aeropress coffee, before sitting down to process the photos.

    Bakery Photography in Poundbury

‘Our Bakeries’ are reworking their lunch menu and asked us to come along and document the new menu being made and the final dishes. They are to be used both for marketing and internally so the other bakeries are able to see how each dish should look to keep standards high through all their bakeries.

  • London Fashion Week

    London Fashion Week

Canon cameras invited us to London Fashion Week to photograph a show by designer Julien MacDonald, with a view to producing a set of photos in our style (although we also took a few catwalk fashion shots for fun). You may remember we shot LFW last year, also with CPS (Canon Professional Services); you can view that by looking at our previous London Fashion Week article.

After the show we were shown in to a room where Canon had set up a 360 photography rig at the show called Canon Fashion 360˚ Studio. Utilising many Canon cameras rigged up in a circle to photograph at the same moment, causing anyone in the middle of the rig to have their very own personal freeze frame Matrix moment. Of course myself and Laura had to jump in and you can check it out at the bottom of the post.

We were contacted by Wildfire whose client, Salcombe Harbour Hotel, was after some teaser photos for the recent refurbishment to attract interest and bookings for their re-opening in August 2013.

The key image was to have boat styled to reflect the feel and style of Salcombe, styling was done by Holly Keeling.

Below are the ‘raw’ photos before Wildfire created their posters and literature from them.

HRH Prince Charles Celebrates the 20th anniversary of Poundbury

The Duchy of Cornwall commissioned Limeleaf to document HRH Prince Charles, viewing the exhibition at Poundbury for its 20th anniversary. Poundbury town is an experimental town on the outskirts of Dorchester in the county of Dorset, England.

The development is built on land owned by the Duchy of Cornwall and is Prince Charles pet project. He is known for holding strong views challenging the post-war trends in town planning that were suburban in character.

Poundbury is a beautiful town with gorgeous architecture and a nice open airy feel. With parks, bakeries and local shops close to almost all houses car use is minimised to create a greater feeling of community.

Below are a few of the photos we captured for the Duchy of Cornwall.

Somerset Long Barn Holiday Home Promotional Photographs

The Long Barn is a beautiful 5 star gold holiday let deep within the Somerset countryside with views of the Quantock hills one way and the blackdown hills the other.

We photographed the barn, capturing the relaxing and tranquil feel and decor, as well as let prospective clients see the rooms and amenities in an artistic way. The photos are to be used on the clients new website and promotional material.

Here are just a few of the photos, many more, including ‘standard’ room shots were also included for more traditional uses such as submitting photos to visitbritain.com and other websites.

We were asked to document the River Cottage HQ Easter Fair so River Cottage would have stock images to use for promotion and marketing of this and other future events on their website.

Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall also made an appearance, meeting visitors and signing cookbooks.

  • A spring day at the Buttermarket bakery

A spring day at the Buttermarket bakery

We spent some time in Poundbury, a new town on the outskirts of Dorchester in the county of Dorset, England. It is built according to the principles of Prince Charles who is known for holding strong views challenging the post-war trends in town planning.

‘Our Bakeries’ have been building a new bakery to open this summer and we have been following the progress of the build by popping back every few months to photograph the current state. It’s shaping up to be a really nice bakery with it’s dome glass top giving some lovely views over Poundbury and the surrounding countryside.

We not only photographed the bakery but also the surrounding area and the shops local to the bakery, since Poundbury is very much built in keeping with the gathering ethos that Our Bakeries is known for it seemed only right to meet a few of the locals and include them.

Below are a few photos from the day.

  • First Weekend in the Slaughterhouse Bakery

First Weekend in the Slaughterhouse Bakery

As previously posted, ‘Our Bakeries’ recently moved not far from their old location and we covered the photography of the new bakery being built and moving in equipment.

We were asked to return to photograph on the first weekend they were open, we decided on the Sunday as the local market was on and wanted to get a few photos with this in place. Without even advertising, not even a single sign outside, the bakery was nearing full capacity. With two of us moving around, documenting the ambiance and hustle of a fresh October day we were able to seize the moment and bring it across in our photography.

Food and Baker Photography For The Town Mill Bakery in Lyme Regis

We love to shoot food photography and were commissioned by The Town Mill Bakery in Lyme Regis, Dorset to take some photos of their new breads and of their baker, Jorge. Mainly for their website and new signs to be made as well as to add to their expanding library of photos they hold for marketing/brochures and other promotional materials.

On a more personal note, we would highly recommend dropping in for a coffee and piece of cake, it’s a great experience.

  • AQA exam board photography

We were commissioned by AQA to create some dramatic photos to be used for the covers of GCSE textbooks as well as being used for marketing material. The brief was to come up with natural yet dramatically lit images of GCSE students engaging in activites within the science curriculum. The images were shot on our white studio backdrop so they could be used on a more dramatic background for the finished artwork produced by the designers.
