We’re asked to photograph a wide range of dishes but this time we decided to do something a little different. Taking inspiration from world famous photographer Orkun Orcan, we put together the following scene with Sainsbury’s Sushi. The shoot was such that we tried various methods from hanging the food in place with fishing wire to using large tweezers. We settled on a method that allowed multiple angles and positions of the same piece which could then be placed anywhere in the final composite scene. We built the backdrop in 3D software, creating a virtual fabric material and then recreated our lighting setup in the 3D environment to emulate our real world studio lighting. This approach also allows for quick changes in backdrop at any time without a re-shoot or time consuming post-processing.
Our creative food photography is available to all our clients and is not limited to falling pieces of sushi, let your imagination run wild and we’ll see what we can do together.
